Now everyone can draw!

Author Brenda Hoddinott (Drawing for Dummies and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Drawing People) offers expert advice on choosing and using drawing supplies, as well as fun information about art, artists, and art history.

Introduction to Drawing is based on beginner-level Drawspace curriculum and contains intuitively organized topics designed for students with recreational and/or professional artistic goals. Drawspace curriculum modules have been successfully taught in Drawspace’s interactive classrooms and make up the core curricula within the Drawspace Certification Program.

Packed inside its 89 pages, Introduction to Drawing boasts fifteen resources with heavily illustrated discussions surrounding art-related topics such as selecting the right drawing paper and graphite pencils; holding your pencils correctly to help prevent discomfort and repetitive movement injuries; and setting up a practical place to draw. Five simple activities focus on the absolute basics of learning to draw and include discovering and using your natural hand movements; taking five grades of pencils for a test drive; and drawing with erasers.

This curriculum is designed for aspiring artists who prefer to teach themselves; schools, colleges, and universities; recreational teachers; and homeschooling families. Drawspace curriculum can be licensed for educational purposes in digital format at Drawspace.com.

The Drawspace philosophy on teaching art emphasizes the enjoyable aspects of drawing while gently introducing the technical and academic skills needed to master the subject. Through the creation of a passion for the subject matter, the quest for knowledge is deepened.
