Version is fantastic, but this book is glued together so poorly, that it cannot go outside, without completely falling apart. For those of us who believe the Torah should not be "thrown on the ground" or "tossed out," this would be a very bad buy for you. If you only plan on keeping it relatively unused, as a sort of tchotchke almost, than it's perfect. Perhaps go with a sewn or imitation leather bound version if you really want it to travel with you.
My large Hebrew Study Bible is daunting, with thin pages and endless explanations on side columns, and not something I can read when I'm eating, which is a bad habit I have. This book, however, is perfect in every way. Unfamiliar with it because I was raised Catholic, but wanting to know what I was missing (because Catholicism is based on Judaism), I found it easy to understand and packed with insight. If all youngsters (say, in junior high school) had to read just these 5 chapters, I think the fear of God they'd feel would result in better behavior throughout America. I love it and it has replaced any NT books I might have had.
Picked this up out of interest - I have never met with a professedJew and been able to ask all the stupid goy questions that come with it, so I figured my own research would be a good alternative.The book itself is hardback, with a rather flimsy paper dust jacket. A thick volume, it has some heft to it. The translation is apparently something of a standard since the early 1960s, and is very coherent. I really like this one - I utterly despise the multitude of differant English translations of the Christian Bible, particularly the King James version (which deviates considerably from the original Hebrew with all the inane thees and thous) but this volume has been highly touted as an honest translation that maintains the flow of the original language. It is written in English only, so if you are looking for a side-by-side in Hebrew, this isn't it.Highly recommended, even if you just have a passing interest.
Easy to read and understand.. It is the five first books of the Bible.I am using it for the challenge to find the 613 laws of Moses.D. Kenning
if Christians only knew what they were missing and what has been left out. by well meaning translators. they would add this to their Library.
I am not jewish but I always wondered what the five books of Moses and. Abraham would reveal about their close relationship with God and how did that feel .After that the bible reveals that God was less personal with people. People need a personal relationship with God to be saved I think.
Excellent book! Still reading it. It is written plain and clear for easy understanding.It is truth
